R&B singer Trey Songz has been in a lot of trouble with the law lately. Trey Songz whose real name is Tremaine Aldon Neverson is now being accused of sexual assault by not one, but two women. These women claimed they “passed out” at a house party thrown by the singer only to wake up finding Mr. Songz “forcing himself on them”, according to TMZ.
The woman claims they met Trey Songz in June of 2015 at his concert. The women said they took an Uber to the singer’s party where mostly women were present along with only “a handful of men”, in order to enter the party the women alleged that they had to give a password as well as hand in their phones. They also alleged that the women were being “pressured to drink alcohol from unsealed bottles”. In the suit, the women said that they believed they were drugged because they felt intoxicated even though they only consumed a “modest amount” of alcohol, according to TMZ.
In the suit, the women claimed that they sat on a “couch by the pool” only to be led by Trey Songz to an “upstairs room” where they passed out fully clothed. They subsequently woke up the next morning naked with an also naked Trey Songz forcing himself upon them. One woman alleged that Mr. Songz was giving her “non-consensual oral sex” that she had tried to “resist” only to be “overpowered” by Songz while the other claimed that she woke up to him “biting her nipple and forcing his fingers inside her vagina”. The women then claimed that Mr. Songz proceeded to demand that “they take a shower with him” to which they refused. Mr. Songz allegedly was infuriated by this and shouted …”You are little f****** girls, get the f*** out of my house”, as per the women and TMZ.
The women said they grabbed their clothes and tried to leave, but an angered Mr. Songz didn’t want to turn in their phones. Luckily, a security guard intervened, and the women could call an Uber home safely, according to TMZ. This isn’t the only or first funk the singer has been in with the law Mr. Songz had recently pleaded guilty to assaulting and punching a female bowling alley worker in the bathroom. Prosecutors then dropped the charges given that the singer completed “12 anger-management classes by August as part of his plea deal”, according to The Cut Magazine and TMZ.
Whether these charges against Songz are true or not is yet to be known, however, one can be certain of the fact that sexual assault has been an ongoing occurrence between men in power and women for centuries. When people obtain power, they believe that they can outsmart everyone else, and get away with things that the average person would never. Unfortunately, a lot of the time that does happen, but the more that things like sexual assault is talked about, exposed, and boycotted the better future one can build for the young women of this generation along with the next.
