Many celebrities and influencers are well known for collaborating with fast-fashion brand Fashion Nova. Even if it’s a personal clothing line collaboration or even a promotional collab where celebrities promote Fashion Nova clothing. Cardi B had a very successful collab with Fashion Nova in 2018, many of the clothes that were released under her collab sold out quickly. Meanwhile, media outlets such as The Shaderoom have paid promotional collaborations to promote Fashion Nova on their Instagram.
Fashion Nova is usually the one in the hot seat due to multiple negative stories connected to the company. Some of those stories being, the outrage of not paying manufacturer workers a livable wage, and recently they were criticized for the oversexualizing clothing line, they released for children. On October 20th, it’s been reported that Fashion Nova is actually putting one of their brand ambassadors in the hot seat. That brand ambassador being hip-hop artist Rich The Kid.
TMZ obtained legal documents stating that the 28-year-old rapper is being sued for allegedly breaching his contract with Fashion Nova. Fashion Nova claims they created an endorsement deal with Rich in 2018, he is one out of many celebrities that are ambassadors for the brand. This endorsement deal consisted of a paid advance of $100,000 advance for several promotions, mentioning the brand on social media, and giving Fashion Nova a shout out in at least one of his songs.
Fashion Nova also claimed that Rich agreed to do promotions between October and December in 2018, but never followed through. The fast-fashion brand says it suffered drastically financially as a result of Rich’s noncompliance. Which led to them seeking $2.1 million in damages.
After the news was of the lawsuit was released, Rich shared multiple Instagram stories to address the matter. He also released a video stating that he doesn’t owe the fast-fashion brand any money.
This lawsuit will only add to the list of money Rich reportedly owes, one of them being a recent request to pay out $1.1 million to his former managers after ignoring their initial lawsuit that accused him of owning them $3.5 million. Even if people don’t know if he actually owes Fashion Nova money and breached his contract with him, some will take notice of how many times Rich the Kid has been in the hot seat of owing people money.
