Rihanna, known for being a cultural icon through the world of music, particularly in the genres of pop and dancehall music.
The Barbadian pop star is well known for her hits, such “Rude Boy” , “Man Down”, “Disturbia” and many more. Not only does the 9x Grammy superstar has to be recognized for her unique style to pop music by incorporating her dancehall roots into her artistry, but her contributions in philanthropy and as a businesswoman also goes without question of her dedication and focus to making an impact in lives of millions.
Some of her work includes, the Ciara Lionel Foundation (a foundation in honor of her grandparents that dedicates to creating education programs in Barbados and the Believe Foundation, which RiRi had founded in 2006 to help terminally ill children.
Her most recent work is her brand Fenty Beauty, which launched in September of 2017.
Due to Rihanna’s remarkable philanthropic work with the Ciara Lionel Foundation, recently, it is reported that she is expected to be honored with the President’s Award at the NAACP Image Awards, which will be taken place in Pasadena California on Feb. 22nd.
The President’s Award is one of the highest honors at the NAACP Image Awards and we should be very proud that Rihanna is finally being recognized for her great contributions to her native island of Barbados. Past recipients of this award include Muhammad Ali, Jesse Jackson, Ms. Lauryn Hill, and many others.
