On June 15, Akon announced that he received a $6 billion construction contract to begin work on his new city in Senegal, where he is from. Akon City has been in the works for quite some time and it’s finally beginning construction.
The announcement post featured a photo of beautiful, outwardly buildings that displayed Akon City. The caption read the amount it was rewarded and included the PR website for the establishment.
In the contract, it shared that there will be two phases of the community’s construction. Phase one will include a “hospital, mall, residences, hotels, a police station, a school, a waste facility, and a solar power plant,” which is expected to happen by 2023.
In phase two, the city will end construction by running on AKOIN cryptocurrency, which will begin happening after 2029. The 2024-2029 phase will also include universities, schools, parks, a stadium, and an industrial complex.
Recently, Akon was spotted in the studio with Tekashi 6ix9ine and took to social media to share a snippet of the two recording. He shared sympathy for 6ix9ine in the post, as the caption read, “Being Locked up can really change your prospective in life. Ask @6ix9ine #lockedup Coming Soon!”
The single has yet to be released, but we can’t wait to hear what the two were cooking up. However, Akon City is expected to be complete by 2030.
