Amid the pandemic that we are currently experiencing, the unemployment rate has reached an all-time high. There are millions of people who have lost their jobs due to the forced closing of any business that is considered non-essential.
Many people in the United States live paycheck to paycheck so they are no longer able to pay bills or rent.
Due to this, dozens of essential businesses such as grocery stores and retail stores are hiring by the thousands in order to push forward their business and give job opportunities to those who are in need of them at this trying time.
Here are a few businesses that are proactively hiring at this time:
CVS: The drugstore recently announced that they plan to hire 50,000 workers for part-time, full-time, and temporary jobs which include store positions, home delivery drivers. In addition to this, they will be giving bonuses to all of their current employees.
Kroger: Kroger released a statement saying that they will be hiring 20,000 additional employees within their stores and warehouses. They have also shortened the time between applying for positions and starting the job to three days.
Dominos: As you can imagine, most people are ordering in because indoor seated restaurants are closed. Domino’s is now looking to hire up to 10,000 employees in roles such as pizza makers, delivery drivers, and customer service reps.
Walmart: One of the largest retailers in the world is adding 150,000 temporary positions that will run through the end of May. The company says that although they will begin as temporary, many of them will convert to full-time positions. Walmart has also stated that they have shortened their hiring process from two weeks to just 24 hours.
