This week, we had the opportunity to interview the founder of Soulivity Magazine, Brian Johnson, as we spoke about his journey towards forming Soulivity Magazine, current projects, future projects, and what changes he aspires to make in the community through Soulivity Magazine.
Eman: How did Soulivity Magazine come into being?
Brian Johnson: I founded Soulivity Magazine after having traveled the world for decades as an enterprising business development professional. In 2015, I found myself wanting to create for myself a renewed sense of purpose and commitment to engaging and empowering others. So, with the creation of Soulivity, I dedicated myself to a new mission— to deliver informative editorial, and inspire people to live life with purpose, passion, and joy through a multi-faceted, technology-driven media platform.
Eman: What are the positive changes you aspire to make in society through Soulivity?
Brian Johnson: The driving force behind Soulivity’s corporate mission and Magazine platform is centered around inclusion and equitable access for personal knowledge, social development, and connectivity—equally representing voices of community leaders and stakeholders. Soulivity’s mission and brand is backed by supporters across the U.S.–in every corner, of every social and economic community—inspiring readers, fans, and partners to pursue an experiential life.
Eman: Can you tell me about the projects Soulivity Magazine is currently involved in?
Brian Johnson: Soulivity has several fantastic initiatives we are executing right now:
ASPIRE by Soulivity – This was a dream of mine and something that was part of my original vision. ASPIRE brings together the power of social media technology and an online learning platform for an experience unlike no other. Members commune with their fellow members in a safe environment as they create a shared experience of inspiration, aspiration, and transformation. As ASPIRE supports multimedia technology (live and pre-recorded video, graphics, and more), it is also the perfect way for partners to speak directly to target audiences with ease and powerful engagement.
EMPOWER 2022 Summit – Partnering with Beyond Words Publishing (the publisher for the worldwide hit, “The Secret”) for another inspirational and rejuvenating “New Year, New You” virtual event. For the year 2022, “EMPOWER/New Year, New You 2022” is all about inspiring people to climb new heights, move into a life of empowerment, and revitalize their mind-body-spirit. Speakers include well-known and highly successful personalities, including WorkingWomen.com CEO, Helen Lerner, with a reach of over 14 million; and, two-time New York Times Best-selling author, Christy Whitman; and many more. This event offers the unique ability to expand the awareness and reach of brands in an environment that is dedicated to empowerment.
Soulivity TV, our 24/7 Live Streaming Channel – Early this year, we launched our 24/7 streaming channel. This channel is an extension of Soulivity Magazine, where we provide video content and shows which to inspire viewers to:
- Live a higher quality life.
- Become more culturally aware and interconnected to the global community.
- Increase personal and professional productivity, effectiveness, and efficiency.
- Experience better lifestyle outcomes.
Eman: What sets apart Soulivity Magazine from other media platforms?
Brian Johnson: What sets Soulivity apart from other media platforms is its unique “system of systems” which provide opportunities for people of different walks of life to improve their lives. We provide the connective tissue that brings together people, resources, tools, and organizations – which individually support social impact and global change – and merges them into one inclusive and highly diverse worldwide platform.
Eman: How do you aspire to redefine the media industry through soulivity magazine?
Brian Johnson: For our consumers, it is important that we bring an informative, and inclusive, look at our world-at-large; to tell the stories of unknown (yet relevant) people and share them with others. This includes compelling discussions with cultural and professional leaders who have found success and those that are experts within our reporting—providing informative and empowering insight and sources.
Eman: Are there any projects you’re currently working on that you’d like us to know about?
Brian Johnson: For the ASPIRE portal, we soon will be rolling out a continuous series of special live streaming and pre-recorded content specifically designed to move people from being inspired to taking action and creating their best lives today. These sessions will be free or highly affordable/accessible.
Eman: What challenges did you face on your way towards forming Soulivity Magazine? And how did you overcome those challenges?
Brian Johnson: The main challenge in building (and continuing to innovate) Soulivity has always been technology. When I founded Soulivity years ago, the technology to execute my dream wasn’t available. So, I had to either wait or improvise with the tools and resources that were available at that time.
However, I also believe that this was part of the process – patience is a definite virtue of any entrepreneur. It doesn’t mean that you “do nothing”; it means that you become more thoughtful about what you need to do today.
I could have rushed; spent a lot of money, time, and resources; and, found myself in a situation where I wasn’t mission-focused.
Eman: What are some brands you would love to work for in the future?
Brian Johnson: Wow. So many to choose from. Of course, my dream of collaboration includes working with some of my “virtual mentors” – Oprah Winfrey, Ava DuVernay, Jordan Peele, just to name a few; along with several global organizations that are promoting global initiatives (i.e., the Gates Foundation, World Bank, United Nations, etc.)
Eman: Where do you see soulivity magazine five years from now?
Brian Johnson: This is a great question! My vision has always included more of a global impact of inclusivity. So, I see Soulivity expanding into providing content that is truly relevant to where people live and who they aspire to become. This is different for everyone.
Eman: What advice would you like to give to young people aspiring to start or launch a media platform of their own?
Brian Johnson: Soulivity’s mission statement is, “To serve humanity across the globe by providing inspirational content in different forms to uplift and move our collective experience forward while eliminating fear and ignorance.” I tell young people to first understand that “every successful enterprise, at its core, aspires to serve the world in one way or another.” So, my advice would be for them, as they gain knowledge, skills, and awareness, to endeavor to have a deeper purpose for starting their business other than to “make money.” When challenges come (and they will come), you will be connected to something that is truly aspirational; and, you’ll find that you have the strength, courage, and faith to stay the course to ultimate success.
Eman: From where can people keep up-to-date with Soulivity magazine other than your official website?
