Empath comes from the word empathy, which is the natural ability to feel and/ or experience another person’s emotions or feelings outside of your own. Allowing you to feel certain levels of their pain, happiness, sadness, excitement, etc. Beyond that, as an Empath, that pain or happiness becomes your own and that could take a toll on you as a person, if you, the Empath, set clear and healthy boundaries these sometimes overwhelming emotions won’t be as much of a toll if you don’t let it.
Here are signs and traits to see if you are one:
Good Intuition
You have a very strong gut feeling about someone or a certain situation that comes to you right away. This feeling you get is usually right and you tend to stick with that gut feeling no matter what.
Have Trouble Not Caring
When it comes to close relationships it is hard for you to not care because you are feeling all of your friends and family’s emotions ten times over. So, even if you do not want to get involved those emotions force you to.
May Not Do Well In Crowded Places
Crowded places are ones that for an empath, can give you a sensory overload of emotions where all of these emotions hit you once. Taking a big toll on you whether you like it or not. In this situation, go to a quiet place and recollect your thoughts.
Being an Empath has its’ ups and downs, but if you have those bad days take steps to take care of your mental health and keep yourself from the self-isolating negative emotions.
