Investing Time In Yourself
Self-care begins with taking time for one’s self. It helps in managing stress, increases productivity, and keeps our mental health in check. Work, school, college, part-time, chores, etc can add up to being a lot on your plate. It’s necessary to prioritize mental health as much as physical health, by taking time for yourself. Time is valuable and important, but we can’t expect ourselves to take good care of our loved ones when we ourselves are not in a good place.
“Take time to do what makes your soul happy” – It is not selfish to do that. It isn’t easy because of our jam-packed 21st-century schedules, but time needs to be kept aside for self-care. Reframing your mindset into a positive and motivational one acts as a boost, for example, it makes you realize that cleaning and workout need to be done because you deserve to work in a clean place in a healthy body.
Ways to prioritize yourself
Focus on your present favorites, it can be an activity, food, drink, music, comfort socks, or anything you cherish at the present moment. It is crucial to have a pause with nothing to do on your to-do list, it is the time to sit back, enjoy and unplug. Remember, “self-care isn’t selfish”. The key is to treat yourself as someone you truly love.
Keeping an hour off the day set aside for doing what you truly enjoy, can be walks, making coffee, a long shower, lighting scented candles, or anything that is for yourself. Planners help on the journey of setting aside “ME” time. Stay home on a weekend, go on a date night with yourself, plan a vacation, etc. to bring your mental health back to a stable state after a hectic day. Even try some new skills like a language, or that is necessary for a healthy lifestyle of the day set aside for doing what you truly enjoy, can be walked software programming, or inherit traits you wish to have, and become the best version of yourself. Put your cell phone away and relax.
It’s the small moments of self-care that are necessary for a healthy lifestyle. These little things have a significant impact on our happiness.
