Before teenagers were doing the Savage Dance Challenge on Tik Tok, many others were hitting the Nae Nae for a short 6-second clip on the video hosting app, Vine. Vine was released in 2013. By December 2015, Vine had more than 200 million users. Many influencers you may know today like David Dobrik or Liza Koshy started their career on Vine. Vine was the home of mini comedy skits and iconic one-liners that many people still say today. In January of 2017, Vine was officially discontinued and shut down. With the shutdown of Vine, it left many people with good memories of their time just spending hours on the app laughing at 6-second videos.
The creator of Vine, Dom Hofmann tried to rebrand Vine with a similar app called Byte. However, there haven’t been any updates on Byte since the huge announcement from Hofmann.
Twitter users have been discussing many things from which tv shows they wouldn’t watch compared to other shows, which cartoon character they would rather be friends with, and now, what Vine references come to mind when they think of Vine.

Although the official Vine app and website are discontinued, people can still enjoy the millions of Vines on YouTube. With over thousands of Vine compilations on YouTube, the memories from Vine will always be there.
With the success of Tik Tok, it’s pretty obvious that it would be hard for Vine to make a comeback. However, the hilarious quotes and skits from Vine will always be remembered as generations go on.
