After winning a gold medal on the balance beam during the gymnastics competition Gymnasts star, Simone Biles revealed that her aunt died unexpectedly recently. At a press conference following her win, she shared the shocking news. According to Biles, “At the end of the day, people don’t understand what we are going through; two days ago, I woke up and my aunt unexpectedly passed, and it wasn’t any easier being here at the Olympic Games.”
Due to her challenging time at the Olympics games, she temporarily pulled out of multiple events to tend to her mental health and injury with the “twisties.” . Despite the many obstacles that she experienced this Summer, Biles will leave Tokyo with both a silver and gold medal.
In an Instagram post, the Gymnast shared her thoughts regarding her experience in Tokyo. She acknowledged that things did not go as planned for her but she is grateful for this year’s Olympic experience. She ended her post by celebrating her two wins saying it, “isn’t too shabby.”
