It’s football season! That’s right, it’s that time of year again, so we have to make our award predictions for the 2023-2024 NFL season. In a year with many improved teams and plenty of new young talent, the upcoming season will look to be a fun time within football stadiums across the country.
Coach of The Year – Dan Campbell
Every season since Dan Campbell joined the Detroit Lions, they’ve become drastically better. The vociferous Texas native has brought a newfound sense of grit to the Lions franchise that they had been missing for years. After jumping from 3-13 in 2021 to 9-8 in 2022, I believe Campbell’s coaching style will bring the best out of his team in 2023-2024. Thus, making him my favorite to win next season’s Coach of the Year award.
Comeback Player of The Year – Lamar Jackson
Spraining his knee last season against the Denver Broncos in week 13, and missing the chance to lead his team in their wildcard matchup against Cincinnati, I believe Lamar Jackson has something to prove this year. With a revamped WR core containing Odell Beckham Jr. and Zay Flowers, Lamar will be putting on a show in Baltimore this year. His outstanding, MVP-caliber play will earn him the Comeback Player of the Year trophy
Offensive Rookie of The Year – CJ Stroud
The rookie from Ohio State will look to put an end to OSU’s NFL quarterback drought in his first season. Under new head coach DeMeco Ryans, Stroud will be put in a great position to settle in behind his elite defense. Along with the defense, the Texans are stacked with young promising talent such as Daeon Pierce and Kenyon Green. Improvement can already be seen in Stroud’s play throughout his first two preseason games. CJ is best fit to hoist the offensive Rookie of the Year trophy at the end of the upcoming season.
Defensive Rookie of The Year – Will Anderson Jr.
That’s right, I predict that the Houston Texans will have both the offensive and defensive rookie of the year in the NFL. What can I say other than the fact that Will Anderson is a monster of a player? Coming out of Alabama the promising outside linebacker will bring a defensive spark to DeMeco Ryans’s defensive schemes. With the promising reports coming out of Houston’s preseason camps, I believe Anderson is the far and away best defensive rookie in 2023-2024.
Offensive Player of The Year – Justin Jefferson
Justin Jefferson has completely revitalized the Minnesota Viking franchise, putting up 4,825 yards in only his first three seasons with the team. Since joining the team, everything from wins to production has vastly improved. The ‘24 prodigy does everything for the Vikings. After winning the Offensive Player of the Year award last season, I expect him to win the award again this year.
Defensive Player of The Year – Micah Parsons
Only missing out on defensive player of the year last season, the former defensive rookie of the year is looking for revenge. Nicknamed “The Lion”, Parsons is already known as a top 3 defensive player in the league with his 26.5 sacks in only 2 seasons. If Micah can keep brick-walling offenses next season, he should be primed to win Defensive Player of The Year.
Most Valuable Player – Patrick Mahomes
The two-time MVP and reigning Super Bowl champion, Patrick Mahomes, is far and away the most impressive player in the NFL. With his combination of talent and finesse, the Chief’s quarterback will look to continue his dominance alongside Andy Reid. If Mahomes can continue to put up 4,000 yards a season, and I see no reason why he won’t, he will once again be receiving the MVP trophy in February.
