The ninth week of the NFL season began with some terrible news. Rookie Of the Year favorite and fringe MVP candidate, Deshaun Watson, tore his ACL during practice, forcing him to miss the rest of the season.
The Texans are just the latest team to have their season ended by an injury to their starting quarterback, but like the other teams, they still have half a season to play. So let’s get into the best games of the week.
Kansas City Chiefs vs Dallas Cowboys
Will Ezekiel Elliott be suspended or not? This game of cat and mouse between Elliott and the NFL added another chapter as Elliott was once again suspended then un-suspended. This works out beautifully for the Cowboys because without him the Chiefs would run right through them. Expect Zeke to play motivated this week and for his hot streak to continue. The Cowboys are finally clicking and I don’t think the Chiefs will be able to keep up.
28-13 Cowboys
Washington Redskins vs Seattle Seahawks
The battle of elite corners. Josh Norman vs Richard Sherman. This game will come down to whose defense can make more impact plays. Which defense can cause more sacks, fumbles, and interceptions and I think the “Legion Of Boom” will. They were able to make enough plays last week against Deshaun Watson to save the game, and I see a similar thing happening this week.
17-13 Seahawks
Denver Broncos vs Philadelphia Eagles
Welcome to the return of Brock Osweiler. Who would’ve thought we’d be seeing him in a Broncos jersey again ? The truth of the situation is Osweiler should’ve never left Denver. He fits their scheme perfectly and rode it all the way to a Superbowl he didn’t get to play in. Now he’s back two years later, and he’ll begin his Broncos comeback with a win over the best team in the league. The Broncos defense will be the key and Osweiler will game manage to perfection sealing the win.
Game Of The Week: Atlanta Falcons vs Carolina Panthers
This has been a whirlwind season for the Falcons. They open the season by winning three straight and followed that up by losing three straight including embarrassing losses to the Dolphins and Patriots. The Panthers have been almost as inconsistent, following excellent games with some terrible ones. This week, these NFC South rivals meet with only a game between them and second place on the line. It’s going to be a great game, expect big offensive plays from both teams. I expect the Falcons to be up early in this one, but I expect Cam Newton will engineer a comeback. He’s still one of the clutchest QBs in the league, and Atlanta will find out about it the hard way.
24-21 Panthers
