For some strange reason, Wale is one of the most talented rappers in the game that are slept on. Although he is slightly low-key and you don’t see him out in the forefront often, just know he’s always working. He’s one of the few artists than can produce an album full of hits, with cohesive tracks you can play back to back without hitting next, yet he never receives the recognition he deserves. Wale has been interviewed about his hidden gems in the past by The Breakfast Club, opening the floor for the hosts to explain to him why they think he’s not as sought out as he deserves to be, and one of the conclusions they came to is maybe because he produces a great radio hit, but a lot of songs can be played in the club.
Well, by the sounds of his fifth studio album Shine , you can tell the artist put all things into perspective and his main priority was to complete a project for his fans. From the positive vibes protruded on every record, one gets a sense that he’s in a happy state of mind. Shine debuted on April 28th, a week earlier than its scheduled release date, and his daughter Zyla, who will make a year in a few months, can take full credit for the inspiration behind the album, as she has totally changed his outlook on life.
“I named my album SHiNE when I knew my babygirl was on the way … I want to be a better man than I ever been,” Wale said in a message to his fans. “I’m so flawed I’m so imperfect and the world knows it… I just want to honestly be the best version of myself I can be.. My focus is renewed I’m infinitely in love with my princess and I truly appreciate all the love you have shown her and how understanding many people who knew were .imma keep workin on me and pray to God I can design a young princess who flourishes to an absolute queen .. I got u baby … U go girl .. You are my everything and I’ll see to it we SHiNE my precious Zyla.”
The album is filled with radio and club hits, a.k.a. fun, dance records, this time around, so I’d love to see how far he soar’s now. Wale has evolved as a rapper over the years, and he’ll be shining in a city near you soon, so take a listen to his album below and go grab tickets to The Shine Tour.
