Yesterday was Game 1 of the Eastern Finals between the Cavs and the Celtics which took place at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. Now this game was highly anticipated since fans were wondering who the Cavs would play after they SWEPT the raptors and won the series 4-0. After the Celtics beat the 76ers, fans were wondering how this match off would be since the Cavs would be playing in the playoffs without Kyrie and his current team would be playing without him as well.
The Cavs tried to keep up with the Celtics but fell short which allowed the Celtics to pull away with a 108-83 win. The Celtics outscored the Cavs in the 1st, 2nd, and 4th quarter which allowed them to secure the win. The Celtics were able to contain Lebron and forced him to have a lot of turnovers which definitely affected Cleveland.
The leading scorers for the Cavs were Lebron James, Kevin Love, and Rodney Hood. The Cavs shot 36% percent from the field, they were 4 for 26 from the 3 point line, 85% from the free throw line, and had 9 turnovers.
Now Lebron had 15 points, 9 assists, and 7 rebounds which is a little low for LeBron seeming how he was scoring 40+ points most of the playoffs.
Kevin Love outscored Lebron with 17 points, but he only had 3 assists and 8 rebounds.
Rodney Hood dropped a solid 11 points, but only had 2 assists and no rebounds.
Although the team worked together, they weren’t able to get their shots to fall.
When asked about what happened in the 4th quarter, this is what Lebron had to say.
Now for the Celtics, their leading scorers were Al Horford, Marcus Morris, and Jaylen Brown. The Celtics shot 51% from the field, 11-30 from the three-point line, 84% from the free throw line and also had 9 turnovers.
Al Horford had 20 points, 6 assists, and 4 rebounds.
Marcus Morris had 21 points and 10 rebounds.
Jaylen Brown had 23 points, 1 assist, and 8 rebounds.
Now the Celtics take a lead over the Cavs and the series is 1-0. Like Lebron says the first game of the playoffs is a fill out game which helps him see how the team plays, and it’s clear he is ready for game 2 which is on Tuesday, May 15th at 8:30 pm.
