Fans have been anxiously awaiting the release of rapper Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter V album, and the delay has been making people wonder if “soon” is further than it seems. The album was anticipated to drop Friday at midnight, but as the clock struck 12, there was still no sign of the legendary tape.
Rumors about this release have been making its way online for the past few months, and fans stormed Twitter to express how distraught they felt about the missing album:

However, Lil Wayne’s label, Cash Money Records never actually set a release date for the album. Everyone thought it would drop by “pure speculation” following Floyd Mayweather’s Instagram post earlier this month.
Lil Wayne’s daughter Regina also took to Instagram, posting the album cover with no release date.
It’s been 7 years since Tha Carter V has been announced, set for a 2014 release date. However, after disputes between Cash Money Records and co-founder Birdman, the album took a halt.
Since then, Lil Wayne has received rights to his album, and things started to get rolling again. We have heard from everyone except the man himself about when Tha Carter V will drop, and it seems like the wait might stretch out a little further.
Thank you for the update I’ve been waiting since 1996
