Top Dawg Entertainment and newly RCA signed singer and songwriter, SiR, announced that his follow-up album Chasing Summer will be released on Friday, Aug. 30.
The last album the Inglewood native released was November in 2018, which brought out the R&B vibes with his soulful voice and beats.
One of the announcements for Chasing Summer included a video of a visa passport being digitally stamped with the track names and features. Some of the features are artists that he’s worked with in the past such as Jill Scott and Kendrick Lamar. Other features are with Lil Wayne, Sabrina Claudio, and fellow TDE member Zacari.
SiR’s new single “Hair Down,” featuring Kendrick Lamar also played in the background of the announcement. The song expresses being confident with yourself and your interests regardless of what others say. SiR sings, “May not understand me ‘cause it’s all real / And I don’t really give a damn how y’all feel.” Those lyrics itself makes one feel the urge to enjoy life, let your hair down and be free.
The visual for “Hair Down” captured his love for the West Coast with scenes filmed at well-known places in his hometown, Inglewood, CA such as the Forum, where big events and concerts are held. It also shows the small details of the plane in the air, which is known for the Los Angeles Airport, and riding around the city smoking with friends and enjoying the sunshine.
With just this single, it seems that SiR is aiming for positive lyrics and a West Coast sound for Chasing Summer. We’ll see what the soulful singer has in store for us when it drops on Friday.
