Over the past month, Lil Nas X has received both praise and backlash for his hit song “Montero (Call Me By Your Name).” Whether you’re pro or anti-Lil Nas X, there is no denying the man has talent.
On April 23, the rapper released an a cappella version of his devilishly hot track. Lil Nas X is multiplied by 9 as he performs the song with layers of beatboxes and harmonies in a technicolor music video. The Brady Bunch format had some fans feel nostalgic while the rapper slayed multiple outfits and makeup looks.
This new version of the song shows the “HOLIDAY” rapper’s versatility. The track has taken the world by storm and still remains high on the charts. Many fans have even been inspired to meme the track and make their own versions.

It’s crazy to think that just two weeks ago, listeners panicked as “Call Me By Your Name” was mysteriously disappearing off streaming services. However, all is back to normal and fans can listen to the queer anthem till their hearts are content.
The conspiracy roaming the interweb was that the song was dubbed too controversial and streaming platforms did not want part of it. While that proved to be untrue, debate still follows the song.
Ever since the release of its music video on March 25, headlines spiraled along with both hate and support. The controversial video features Lil Nas X giving Satan himself a lap dance after falling from heaven, well, he didn’t actually fall, he slid down a stripper pole, but the meaning is the same.
Even more drama unfolded after Nike sued for copyright infringement over the song’s promotional “Satan Shoes.” The footwear were revamped Nike Air Max 97s, the design consisted of an inverted gold pentagram charm, an inverted red cross, and a single drop of human blood in the sole.
As the saying goes, all publicity is good publicity and Lil Nas X has had eyes all over him recently. While he’s still riding the “Montero” high, the rapper has announced a new album is coming this summer, so stay tuned for more all the sure-to-be bangers coming our way.
