Joey Bada$$’ birthday was on Jan 20 and fans received a sweet gift from the Brooklyn native.
The rapper released his latest single, “Let It Breathe” with the visual to go along with it. The newly 26-year-old took to Twitter to warn fans that he would be dropping music for his birthday. And the next day, he shared the new music on Instagram and gave thanks to his fans on his “G Day.”
“All I wanted for my gday was to give you guys new music,” the Instagram post read. “I’m happy, thanks for all the gday wishes. 2021 we flooding all year!”
The “Let It Breathe” single is Joey coming for his crown in rap. He touches base on where he stands in the game and how he has leveled it up for others. The rapper digs deep into his roots by speaking about his stardom at 17-years-old and how he married the game. He even claims himself as a legend and expresses that he’s getting better every year, hence his birthday.
“Swear I’m raisin’ every bar, and it’s like thеy never ready,” he raps. “Thеy thrown’ [sic] dirt up on [sic]my name like I’m already buried/ Graveyard shifts ’til they put me in the cemetery/ Until then I’m gettin’ better every January/ And it’s very scary, 2020 vision’s never blurry.”
The visual, which was filmed the night before it was released, showcases the All-Amerikkkan Bada$$ rapper buying his dream car, flying in a helicopter above New York City, in the studio creating music and vibing out.
Recently, Joey Bada$$ has been releasing several features for artists like Lous And The Yakuza, Westside Boogie, DJ Scheme, and many more. He has even tapped into his acting skills more, as he released the trailer to the short film, Two Distant Strangers, that he’s staring in. We can expect it in 2021.
