How Jay-Z Should Respond to “Lemonade”

Before April 23, 2016, the term “Lemonade” was nothing more than a beverage one craved on a summer day. Since then, Beyoncé has transformed the meaning into an album that her fans can’t simply get enough of. This wasn’t the first instance where Beyoncé dropped a surprise album on the world, but this was the first time that her surprise release wasn’t just the main topic of conversation. Lemonade is album that has garnered so much attention not just for the quality of the music, but the subtle hints that there may be some problems within Beyoncé and Jay Z’s marriage. The speculation around her marriage overshadowed the fact that Bey actually dropped a great album.

While everyone is trying to figure out who “Becky” is, Hov has much bigger issues on his hands. He has to explain to the world why he cheated on the Queen of Hip-Hop/R&B, Beyoncé.

Anyone that has followed the career of Jay-Z knows that his demeanor screams “I’m a boss”, his style is what every rapper strives to obtain, his pockets are deep, and his pen-game (writing ability) is unmatched. That being stated, there are several ways for Jay to approach this.

But before we look at what Hov should do, here are some of the things he should avoid doing once he addresses the problem:

• Only addressing it on a feature verse on someone else’s song. (We need an explanation not a half-ass response Jay)
• Last but certainly not least, remain silent about the situation.

Although this situation is not necessarily a “rap beef,” Jay-Z needs to approach the situation as if it was. He needs to rap with the aggression he exhibited on the Takeover (Nas and Prodigy diss track) and completely focus on telling his side of the story. On the Takeover he was not only aggressive but cerebral with lines aimed at Nas like, “4 albums in ten years, n*gga? I could divide, That’s 1 (album) every… 2 (years). And 2 (albums) of them shits was due, 1 (album) was “nah,” the other was Illmatic. That’s a one-hot-album-every-10-year average”

Whether he cheated or not isn’t what people care about, what he has to say about the situation is what people are most anticipating. Beyoncé can do no wrong in most people eyes, and as much as people would like to think that she is perfect, she’s probably not. If there are any short comings that Beyonce have, Hov must address some of them that the public doesn’t know about, address how intrigued she looks at other superstars such as LeBron James and Drake when they are around. He shouldn’t air out her darkest secrets, but let the world know that his wife isn’t innocent in all of this neither.
