FKA Twigs is finally back with new music. On Tuesday the singer released a music video for her new song “Don’t Judge Me.”
The song features British rapper Headie One and Fred Again. Twigs wired with the two back in 2020 on their mixtape GANG. She was featured on the “Judge Me (Interlude),” which now evolved into the full-length song “Don’t Judge Me.”
The music video for the new song features Twigs singing and dancing in an almost empty room. Headie One can be seen walking down a street while rapping. The video also consists of artistic dancers in an empty, cold, dark room that has only a large white fountain. Named Fons Americanus, the fountain was created by artist Kara Walker and symbolizes the British slave trade.
The music video is over six minutes long, but about 30 seconds is full of credits. Twigs co-direct the video along with Emmanuel Adeji, Fred Again also produced the project.
Adeji said in a statement that, “In this audio-visual document we get to witness artists FKA Twigs and Headie One, amongst other Black British influentials, fighting against invisible forces of judgment and oppression.”
He goes on to explain the importance of the fountain in the video, “depicting the historical, sorrowful story of slavery and colonization — as our setting, and particularly as the spirit of the film, this important monument creates another layer of depth and meaning to an invisible yet shared history.”
Twigs is very proud to be using her platform and music to shed light on such an important issue.
“This project is very personal and special to me,” the singer wrote.

This is the first time Twig’s is releasing music since her album “Magdalene” in 2019. However, more new music is to come. The singer recently discussed her upcoming album on the Louix Theroux’s Grounded podcast.
She says that the album will be more upbeat than her previous album, which was heavily inspired by her relationship with ex-boyfriend Shia LeBeouf. Twigs currently have a lawsuit against LeBeouf who allegedly abused and assaulted her.
Twigs wrote the album while in quarantine. For some artists, the COVID-19 pandemic has brought on artistic challenges, but this has not been the case for Twigs.
Her next album will have more features and collaborations, all of which took place strictly over the internet.
“The majority of the people I’ve never met in real life. We spent a lot of time with each other over FaceTime. It’s a real product of 2020,” said Twigs.
Twigs shared that this album will feature the most amount of features and collaborations than any of her prior projects. However, it is not yet known when the new album will be released.
