Many fans all over the world are enjoying Drake’s new album. The rapper is at his peak and continues to gain much success since the album release. According to Rolling Stone, Views has sold 1.04 million copies. His album even surpassed the sales of Beyoncé’s Lemonade, which premiered on HBO. The reason that Drake sold over a million copies was due to Views streaming numbers. Nowadays, many people are streaming albums and downloading albums instead of purchasing hard copies. During the first week of the release, songs from Views were streamed over 245 million times. The 245 million streams translate into additional 163,000 stream equivalent albums.
Drake previously topped the Billboard 200. Last week Beyoncé had the number one spot but came in second with Lemonade despite her strong second week sales, Prince’s Purple Rain and The Very Best of Prince came in at number three and four, and Rihanna’s Anti grabbed the number five spot for the second week straight.
Drake will be releasing new music next week to retain his spot on the Billboard 200.
