With over two decades of experience as an actor, Pedro Pascal continues to make a name for himself. Playing characters for various audiences has also made him a role model for the Latino and LGBTQ communities who dream for the success he has achieved. He is praised for playing characters in many widely loved universes and was recently nominated for his role in the series, The Last of Us. Below I have compiled a list of Pedro Pascal’s best works.
1. Game of Thrones
During season four, Pedro Pascal joined the Game of Thrones universe as Oberyn Martell. His strong and charismatic character captured the audience’s attention immediately. He only lived through seven episodes, but he was able to stand out as Prince of Dorne. Oberyn traveled to Westeros for King Joffrey’s wedding in place of his brother and his character introduces the show to Dornish culture. He has a strong devotion to his family, which led him to seek revenge for his sister who was brutally killed by Gregor Clegane. His death easily became the most memorable and his character a fan favorite.
2. Narcos
Pedro Pascal played agent Javier Peña in Netflix’s Narcos series for three seasons. This crime drama is based on real events and follows the rise and fall of Colombian drug lord, Pablo Escobar. Peña and his partner, agent Steve Murphy work hard to bring down Escobar and the Medellín Cartel. His performance as Peña captured the audience’s affection.
3. The Mandalorian
Star Wars was another universe Pascal became a part of as bounty hunter Din Djarin in The Madalorian. The show follows Din and his mission to keep Grogu safe and away from harm. His character is covered from head to toe for most of the series, giving Pascal the challenge to convey emotion with only his voice. We see and hear him create a connection with Grogu and when he is finally seen unmasked, it makes their relationship more emotionally impactful.
4. The Last of Us
In the PlayStation video game adaptation, The Last of Us, Pascal takes the lead as the main protagonist, Joel. We are introduced to his life before the zombie apocalypse and the traumas that follow him in the present day. Years after the death of his daughter, he is given the task to escort teenage Ellie across the United States. Ellie is believed to be immune to the virus and could be the answer to a cure. Joel and Ellie slowly open up to each other and do their best to keep each other safe.
5. Wonder Woman 1984
Joining the DC universe as the villain, Max Lord in Wonder Woman 1984, Pascal conveys a different side from other characters he has played. This film is centered around Wonder Woman and her wish to bring back her lover, Steve. The Dreamstone has the power to grant wishes to others but not without a cost and it falls into the hands of Max, a failed businessman. He becomes desperate and greedy, leading to chaos and destruction. Pascal was able to bring out more emotional layers from his character instead of simply playing a greedy businessman.
