Whenever someone wishes to find out something about their personality they usually turn to a friend and ask or they take a personality test, but believe it or not, there are much more unconventional things that you would have never thought would say something about your personality. The way you dress or speak may say something about you and according to psychologists, the kind of tv genre that you enjoy watching says one or two things about your personality as well.
Psychologists Dennis Relojo-Howell and Michael Padraig Acton told Daily Mail that if you are into Crime Dramas you have one of the most ideal traits of a detective: you are “perceptive”. Dennis supports this by saying, “One of the strong points of crime dramas lies in its ability to inform, or misinform, our perceptions about crime reality within the lens of critical social consideration.” A lot of people are suckers for reality tv and if your one of these people Dennis and Michael would argue that you are friendly. They say that these people are more often than not, the “life of the party” and enjoy being “the center of attention.”
Interestingly enough, if you enjoy soaps or soap operas you are the “happiest” as according to the experts, these people are “enthusiastic”, “interested in relationships”, and enjoy “the familiarity of a weekly schedule.” If you enjoy a more specific drama like royal dramas; you are “aspirational.” You are also more “fashionable” and you have an interest in tradition/culture, all according to the experts. Dennis and Michael say that if you are a thriller fan, you are an “extrovert and adventurous.” Dennis supports this by saying, “In a thriller genre, the threat of death or capture is ever-present, and clever plot twists usually complicate the matter”, “That’s why people who have adventurous personalities tend to appreciate thriller films.”
If you enjoy documentaries, you are considered to be a “relaxed” person; you are also more “accepting” and “you have the urge to seek out knowledge”, according to the experts. Michael had an interesting take on this stating that: “People who enjoy documentaries may also be interested in people, but in a collective way rather than individualistic.” So these people may even be humanitarians.
According to the health magazine Prevention; the “recent research” of a software company by the name of “Tip Tap Labs” concluded that “viewing habits say a lot about our personality.” Based on the study, they concluded that if you like watching talk shows like “The Tonight Show” or “The Daily Show” you are “hard-working”, busier than most, and a “thorough” person. They also stated that if you love competitive shows like “The Voice” or “American Idol” you are “cooperative” and “considerate.” If you are a comedy lover and enjoy shows like “Parks and Recreation” and “Modern Family” you are deemed to be “unconventional and intellectual” along with open. You also possess both “artistic and intellectual” capabilities while also being a “risk taker”, all according to Prevention.
Whether you agree with the experts or not, everyone can agree that discovering or learning more about yourself can be an interesting, fun, and insightful experience. So do not be afraid to do your own research and figure out what your likes, dreams, hobbies, and desires say about you!
