Production for Season 3 of “Euphoria” has faced delays at HBO, but the network affirms its commitment to delivering a compelling new season.
An HBO spokesperson stated, “HBO and Sam Levinson remain committed to making an exceptional third season,” adding that the delay allows the cast to pursue other opportunities while scripts for the upcoming season are still in progress.
Delays in production have been attributed to various factors, including the Hollywood strikes and the unfortunate passing of Angus Cloud, who portrayed Fez. Additionally, the success of the show’s cast members, such as Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, and Hunter Schafer, has made scheduling coordination more challenging.
HBO had previously announced that Season 3 was anticipated to premiere in 2025, indicating a gap of at least three years since Season 2 aired in January 2022. Speculation arose about a potential time jump in the upcoming season, considering the significant hiatus between seasons.
In a light-hearted interview with Jimmy Fallon, Jacob Elordi joked about the possibility of aging if the production delay continued, humorously suggesting that Season 3 might need to take place in the future.
The acclaimed series also features Maude Apatow, Eric Dane, Alexa Demie, Nika King, Storm Reid, Colman Domingo, and Austin Abrams. “Euphoria” follows the story of Rue, portrayed by Zendaya, a teenage drug addict navigating sobriety and high school life post-rehab. While praised for its performances, the show has sparked debates due to its depiction of sensitive themes like drug use and sexuality.
