As many know by now, the former Creative Director of Louis Vuitton has handed over his mantle to Virgil Abloh and taken his talents to Christian Dior. Within 6 months of his new job, it looks as though we will see a collaboration the infamous KAWS. The news was presented to the public through posts by Kaws and Dior, foreshadowing a project using Dior’s iconic bee and adding KAW’s “X” on each eye.
For those that didn’t watch Dior’s SS19 Fashion Show in Paris this past month, the center of the curved runway was filled with a giant figure of a KAWS bear in a Dior tuxedo all made out of 70,000 flowers. The collection is filled with little accessories using the iconic Dior bee and putting KAW’s twist on it. The collaboration added a cool vibe using the unique bee, as well as tones of pink and blue to bring some pop and color for the hot weather. From wallets and bags to keychains and bag charms, the collaboration has cute accessories to add something unique to your closet. This was Kim Jones’s first collection with Dior and was anticipated for a long time coming. Do you think it was enough or do you think he could’ve done more?
