New York Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2018 was a great experience for those of us at TUC Magazine. From the amazing collections on display, street style looks, and special guest celebs in the front row here are the best of what we saw this season.
Carlos Campos Fall/Winter 2018
On February 6, 2018, fashion designer, Carlos Campos, showcased his FW2018 collection at Skylight Modern in Chelsea, NY. This was the first collection I had the opportunity to witness up-close this season and it did not disappoint! This collection was heavily inspired by Carlos’ love for Mariachi music and the late great, Juan Gabriel. The collection features a monochromatic color story with minimal design embellishments but great garment structure.

Malan Breton Fall/Winter 2018
On Thursday, February 8, 2018, at The Cipriani in New York, NY, Taiwan-born Fashion designer and Project Runway alumn, Malan Breton, showcased his Fall/Winter 2018 collection. Malan kicked off Style FashionWeek in style(literally). The stars were in attendance to witness the collection up close including NFL Rookie of the Year, Alvin Kamara, and Celebrity Stylist Jojo Zarur. Real Housewives of Beverly Hills castmember, Camille Grammer served as this season’s special guest model for the collection. Black was the dominant color this collection but it was the way the Taiwanese designer used the color within this collection that gave it more impact. Malan was able to incorporate black leather, embroidered silk, cashmere, silk, tweeds, wool, and sheer fabric within his looks. Each piece from the collection stood out in its own way including the colorful embellished pantsuits designs and full gowns.

Mint Swim Fall/Winter 2018
The stars were out on Friday, February 9th at The Cipriani for Draya Michele’s NYFW debut. A whos-who of names representing the culture was in the building from LaLa Anthony, Fabolous, Christian and Justin Combs, Blackbear, Masika Kalysha, Nya Lee, and so many others. As a man, it is hard for me to judge a swimwear collection(besides how sexy it looks on the models), but I must say that fans of Draya Michele and her Mint Swim collection are in for a treat. The collection featured a white and gold color hue with some incorporation of grey pieces as well. Overall, Mint Swim had a great overall presentation during NYFW and we can all rest assured that Draya Michele is trending up in the fashion world.

Bevza Fall/Winter 2018
Ukranian Fashion designer, Svetlana Bevza, presented her Fall/Winter 2018 “Faux Reality” collection at Spring Studios in NYC. From top to bottom this was an amazing collection. Although very minimalistic in detail, the collection more than makes up for it with its faux fur coats. The collection also featured high-cut bodysuits, silk dresses, and wool tops. The color story will also be greatly appreciated by any and every downtown girly girl with the use of pale blue, sugar pink, and viridian green color hues.

Kaimin Fall/Winter 2018
The talk amongst the fashion world is the “vagina mohawk” as seen in the Kaimin FW 2018 ‘Oriental Garden – Utopian Discord’ Collection. However, the collection offers so much more than meets the eye. KAIMIN, the South Korean-born fashion designer, collection greatly emphasize technological minimalism with lush and eccentric design structure. The collection greatly embodied the philosophy of being the best version of yourself no matter your race, gender, or body type. The designer also partnered up with pop recording artist, Poppy, on a capsule collection that featured a bright and vibrant color palette that incorporates water elements and flower patterns.
