The Red Martini is the perfect place to spend a Friday night in Atlanta. Red Martini Restaurant and Lounge turns into a club at night with upscale dishes and exquisite ambiance. On June 15, 2016, I made my way to the club to not only celebrate my 21st birthday but the TUC Magazine cover release party. TUC was celebrating special guests, Mishon Ratliff, and Zonnique Pullins. The duo was featured in separate issues of the digital magazine and was at the lounge for a special meet and greet. I made my way to the entrance of the lounge and immediately saw the TUC family setting up for the event. Everyone was hard at work preparing for the festivities.
I patiently waited by the two wooden doors that lead into the lounge. On the side of the door was a big Martini stand that held alcoholic beverages. Once finish, everyone headed inside to enjoy the night. Jesse Ballantyne, one of TUC’s leading photographers, recorded people taking pictures in front of the TUC banner. I had my pen and paper in hand ready to start jotting down my notes. Walking inside the lounge, there was a bar as soon as you come in with a variety of drink selections. On the left was the DJ booth where DJ Creations already had the crowd moving. Mirrors with gold framing hanged on the wall. Comfy red couches were placed all through the lounge. A dance floor was in the middle of the club with red lights, four TV screens, and an enormous crystal ball. If one were to walk all the way to the back of the lounge, they would see the bathrooms on the right with an ATM. There was also an area to charge your phone. A hookah/sushi bar was straight ahead already filled with party goers.
Around ten p.m., Zonnique and Mishon showed up with some of their friends. Outside the lounge, cameras were flashing, hugs were given, and everyone was trying to get a picture of TUC’s two special guests. Mishon looked dashing in an all-black ensemble. Zonnique had a very cool look. Her hair was up in a high ponytail; she had on a yellow long sleeve crop top, blue jeans, and gray and yellow sneakers. The two were lead to a VIP section of the lounge. The waitress brought bottles for everyone to enjoy. Zonnique and her entourage sat on one couch, and Mishon and his crew sat on another. By this time, the VIP section was packed. Zonnique and Mishon had each of their digital covers sitting on a wall above the couch.
DJ Creations then decided to play some of Mishon’s music. Mishon stood on the couch microphone in hand and started singing to some of his hit singles. His friends cheered him on embracing the moment. The multi-talented artist even gave a big shout out to TUC Magazine. Zonnique was enjoying drinks while chatting with everyone. I looked to my left and saw a big cake coming to Mishon’s area. Zonnique joined him as both of their magazine covers were on the cake. Everyone in the VIP section gathered around the two to celebrate. Zonnique and Mishon hugged as they congratulated each other on their covers. After the cake cutting, the crowd in the VIP section headed outside to take more pictures. This time, fans got a chance to get pictures with Zonnique and Mishon. Zonnique took pictures with the entire TUC family. Everyone mingled with each other outside of the lounge while getting a chance to network. There was nothing but good vibes from Mishon and Zonnique. For me, it was great to meet all of the TUC family for the first time. The TUC Magazine cover release party was a huge success.
