Top Dawg Ent. hosted their 6th annual Christmas toy drive and giveaway on Wednesday, Dec 18 at Nickerson Gardens in Watts, Los Angeles, CA, the hometown of some of their members and founders.
The event consisted of attendees donating an unwrapped toy as an entrance ticket, in which they received a concert from the TDE members. Pulitzer Prize Winner, Kendrick Lamar, GRAMMY winner Jay Rock, GRAMMY Nominees Schoolboy Q, SZA and Reason, Isaiah Rashad, Zacari, Lance Skiiiwalker, and SiR all took the stage to perform a few hit songs for the audience.
It also included special guests’ performances, such as Chris Brown who performed “Heat” and “No Guidance” while showing off his dance moves with back-up dancers. The Compton native Roddy Rich performed his songs, “Ballin’” and “The Box,” hyping up the crowd. Tyga, Swae Lee, and D Smoke also took the stage to give attendees a memorable performance.
TDE is known to give fans a Christmas concert to look forward to with performances from all the members and several unexpected guests. The past toy drives included guest appearances from Rihanna, E40, and Travis Scott.
The toy drive was created by Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith to give back to the Nickerson Garden community that he and Jay Rock grew up in. It allows children in the Watts neighbor to receive a gift for Christmas, which they are given the next day and a free concert that they might not always get to attend. It’s a special moment for the children and community of Nickerson Gardens during the holidays.
