2018’s Socially Relevant Film Festival, held at Cinema Village in New York’s Greenwich Village, is running from Mar.16-22nd. The festival will show 70 films from 35 countries including industry panels and workshops about the films involved in the festival as well according to Cinema Village and the Festival’s Website.
According to the organization, the films will range in style from Narrative Fiction Features, Feature Documentaries, and short films in the fiction and documentary categories. The event will also feature special Virtual Reality and 360° films, as well as have readings of scripts featured in a scriptwriting competition.
Editing, distribution, pitching, and filming will also be discussed at workshops and panels for the event, which will help independent filmmakers in learning about the industry. Guest speakers at the panel will include Amy Goodman, Erin Brockovich, Martin Sheen, Robert Schenkkan, Marc Levy, Guy Davidi, Gretchen Carlson, and Kunga Tashi, according to the organizers of the event.
