Atlanta’s Premier Fashion & Polo Event: A Recap
The 6th Annual Atlanta Fashion & Polo Classic, a highly-anticipated event in the city, took place on Sunday, October 8, 2023. This extravagant gathering, hosted by acclaimed menswear designer Miguel Wilson and generously sponsored by Bentley Atlanta and The Corbett Group, showcased Atlanta’s top influencers while also serving as a fundraiser for the Ride to the Olympics Foundation.
Distinguished guests at the event included Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens, who attended as a guest of honor. Miguel Wilson, the brains behind the event, expressed his excitement about this year’s success, stating, “This year was the best year we’ve had by far.” He emphasized the event’s commitment to providing a unique and luxurious experience in fashion and polo while treating every ticketholder like a VIP.
The guest list featured a constellation of notable figures, including rapper Young Jeezy, Cynthia Bailey from Bravo’s “Real Housewives of Atlanta,” Egypt Sherrod and Mike Jackson from HGTV’s “Married To Real Estate,” actress Demetria McKinney from Tyler Perry’s “House of Payne,” actor Lamman Rucker from OWN’s “Greenleaf,” actress Cocoa Brown from Tyler Perry’s “For Better or For Worse,” and Pastor Jamal Bryant from New Birth Missionary Baptist Church.
In its six years, the Atlanta Fashion & Polo Classic has evolved into a full weekend of events, starting on Friday, October 6. The weekend kicked off with a welcome party at the Starling Hotel, followed by the Polo & Pumps Day party and the Cocktails & Cigars Under the Stars rooftop party on Saturday. However, the highlight of the weekend was undoubtedly the signature Atlanta Fashion & Polo Classic event on Sunday.
Sunday’s festivities included an exciting polo match featuring top players from across the country, with Miguel Wilson and his wife Chancey Wilson participating. The fashion show showcased both emerging and established designers, with celebrity participants like Mimi Faust from VH1’s “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta,” Martell Holt from OWN’s “Love & Marriage Huntsville,” Ralph Pittman from “Real Housewives of Atlanta,” actor Michael Bolwaire from BET’s “All The Queen’s Men,” Damian Hall from the legendary group Guy, former NFL player JaMarcus Russell, and more. R&B singers Q Parker and Lil G from SILK provided musical entertainment, while actor Palmer Williams from Tyler Perry’s “House of Payne” served as the emcee for the fashion show.
Beyond the glitz and glamour, the Atlanta Fashion & Polo Classic holds a noble cause at its core – fundraising for the Ride to the Olympics Foundation, a non-profit organization founded by Miguel Wilson in 2018. This organization’s mission is to provide underprivileged youth with opportunities to participate in equestrian sports. One of its significant achievements was the creation of the Morehouse Polo Club, the first-ever polo team at a Historically Black College and University (HBCU). The foundation is now focusing on creating multiple youth polo teams.
Miguel Wilson expressed his gratitude to Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens and other sponsors for their support in making the event possible.
