Since having it’s a run in London, England, Tina: The Tina Turner Musical will be hitting the New York Broadway scene. The musical will showcase the life and career of the icon Tina Turner and will open this Fall.
According to The New York Times as well, Tina Turner herself will be involved with the production of the musical as well.
Adrienne Warren, the Tony Award Nominee who plays the lead role of Tina Turner for the London cast, is expected to assume the tole for the New York production, although there hasn’t been official casting information as of yet.
Warren’s portrayal of Turner was so spot open, that they invited her to perform on Britains Got Talent to perform the hit “Proud Mary”.
The musical is considered a ‘jukebox musical” because it’s based around the music made popular by Turner, which has been entertaining audiences in London since late March and will open in Hamburg, Germany March 2019 which makes New York the third major city to host the musical.
An exact date for the show has not been confirmed, but we will keep you posted with details.
