When Kanye first took to Twitter to announce his presidential campaign with the hashtag #2020VISION, Kardashian-West was vocal in her support of her husband. However, things seemed to take a turn for the worse only 2 weeks later at Kanye’s first rally in South Carolina, where he focused heavily on the topic of abortion and made drastic claims about his own wife. Shocking statements didn’t stop there, as he went on to claim that Harriet Tubman did not free slaves, but ‘just had the slaves go work for other white people’.
‘I Almost Killed My Daughter’
Elements of the rally clearly demonstrated that the West couple were facing severe difficulties in their marriage and that Kanye’s mental health was deteriorating. His unscripted speech was said to have made his family shocked and alarmed, as he stated that Kim considered aborting North before he got a message from God. ‘Even if my wife were to divorce me after this speech, she brought North into this world, when I did not want to. She had the pills in her hand. I almost killed my daughter!’.

That same month, Kanye continued to shock and worry fans, by stating that he has been trying to get divorced since Kim met with Meek’ to talk about prison reforms. ‘Meek is my man and was respectful That’s my dog Kim was out of line I’m worth 5 billion dollars and more than that through Christ But ya’ll ain’t listen to MJ and now ya’ll believe them???’. However, after the Twitter outburst, Kanye publicly apologized to his wife, and sources claim that following the surprising revelation, he was being treated for anxiety in a hospital.

In response to Kanye’s comments about Meek, Kim took to Instagram Stories to share three slides of writing to her 180 million followers. ‘People who are unaware or far removed from this experience can be judgmental and not understand that the individual themselves have to engage in the process of getting help no matter how hard family and friends try.’ ‘Living with bipolar disorder does not diminish or invalidate his dreams and his creative ideas, no matter how big or unobtainable they may feel to some…’ ‘That is part of his genius and as we have all witnessed, many of his big dreams have come true.’
Wyoming Tears Shed by Kim
Following his episode, Kim flew to Wyoming to be by her husband’s side. However, she was pictured sobbing during an intense conversation with the troubled rapper, and appeared ‘stressed and exhausted’. It was the first time the couple was pictured together since the disastrous campaign rally in South Carolina. Sources told People at the time: ‘She is very emotional about everything, and also exhausted… ‘She feels very hurt by Kanye. She has tried to reach him multiple times and he just ignores her. It’s all a bad situation. She decided to fly to Cody to speak with him in person. She doesn’t want to be ignored anymore.’
Overall, it seems as if last summer was pivotal for the couple, and as Kanye’s mental health continued to worsen, the couple grew even more separate. As Kim was in LA with the four children, Kanye was alone in Wyoming. Thus, I’m sure their divorcing news comes to no shock, although it is still met with sorrow from many fans.
