The Smith family is well-known for its famous background stemming from Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith. As for the children, Willow and Jaden Smith, they have made their own moves in the music industry and showcased individual identities.
Now that they’re much older, they are completely separating themselves from the Smith last name. Willow has gone from being called her full name to just her first name. Recently, her older brother Jaden has been inspired to do the same.
In an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, Jaden had shared a story about searching up Willow’s name online to realize that she no longer has her last name incorporated. The ERYS artist was so amazed by it and found decided that he wanted to drop his last name as well.
“I realized that Willow changed her name to Willow at some point in time,” Jaden said in the interview. “And that she was no longer Willow Smith. It took me a while because if you look Willow Smith up, it’ll still come up. But then it took me a while to see that it was just Willow. And I was like, ‘Yo. That’s so strong.’ You feel like you don’t have to say your last name. You’re just Willow.”
He also explained that he likes to separate the different sections in his life. The ERYES artist expressed that using Jaden is more for the music scene and Jaden Smith is when he stars in movies.
Recently, the young star dropped a visual for his latest single “Cabin Fever,” which was released July 23.
