Rapper Kodak Black has always been known for his controversial lyrics and outrageous comments, especially in regards to women and relationships. Ironically, those outrageous comments would lead him into having a lot of run-ins with the law as he would be brought up on charges of sexual assault, possession of a firearm and robbery. Notably, one of his most famous run-ins with the law is based on allegations of sexual assault/misconduct with an underage girl at a hotel in 2017. As disturbing as these incidents may have been, Kodak Black still manages to have a strong fan base and following, even in the midst of all these controversial incidents.
On November 13th, 2019, it was reported that Kodak Black was sentenced to 46 months in prison for violating his probation and because of his violent criminal past, federal prosecutors deemed him as a “danger to society “ and his time on the outside (making bail) is long overdue.
A couple of weeks ago, the rapper made a public announcement via Instagram stating that he was being physically beaten by the correctional officers and became emotionally disturbed while spending time in solitary confinement. Also in his rant, Kodak also stated that his commissary was empty and did not take any showers at the time of the mistreatment.
Recently, however, Kodak Black decided to donate money to those in need for the holiday season. According to his lawyer, Bradford Cohen, not only Kodak is giving back to over 70 families this holiday season but to one particular family that has a child who is blind that he discovered through the “Lighthouse of the Blind” foundation.
What are your thoughts? Do you think Kodak Black is just putting up a front to reduce his sentence? Or do you believe that Kodak Black has been given a sign for a second chance? Do you feel bad for Kodak? Or do you think Kodak is getting what he deserves?
