EA Sports has finally given fans a detailed look at the eagerly awaited College Football 25, revealing exciting new features like Campus IQ, the Wear & Tear system, and more.
New Gameplay Features
Campus IQ: This feature introduces three main components to enhance gameplay realism:
- All 22+: Offers detailed player differentiation and team strategies.
- 134 Ways to Play: Adds variety to gameplay styles.
- Stories of Saturday: Focuses on momentum-based gameplay and team dynamics.
Abilities System: Players will have access to 80 abilities, divided into physical and mental categories. These abilities are tiered into bronze, silver, gold, and platinum levels. Players can equip up to five physical and three mental abilities. For instance, the “Pocket Shield” ability helps offensive linemen hold blocks better during standard pass plays.
Wear & Tear System: This physics-based system simulates player fatigue and damage, reflecting real-life scenarios. For example, a quarterback who throws extensively and takes multiple hits will experience reduced throw power and accuracy, which may carry over into subsequent games.
Weather Impact: Weather conditions now play a significant role in gameplay. Rain and snow affect ball handling, throw accuracy, and kick trajectory, adding an extra layer of challenge.
Option Game Mechanics: EA has refined the option game to better simulate the exchange between quarterback and running back.
Enhanced Immersion and Strategy
Confidence and Composure: This new system measures players’ ability to maintain composure in high-pressure situations, especially during rivalry games.
Home-Field Advantage: Returning from NCAA Football 06, the Stadium Pulse Meter makes it tougher for visiting teams to win on the road, simulating the intense energy of Division 1 college football stadiums.
Gameplay Adjustments
Passing and Kicking:
- Passing: Enhanced left stick pass lead intent and overhauled throw power affect throw distance and force.
- Kicking: A new mechanic requires players to lock the ball’s position before achieving maximum power, adding complexity to field goals and punts.
- Switch Stick: This feature promotes defensive switching by allowing players to change coverage direction with the right stick, enhancing defensive strategy.
