After more than 40 years since its creation, Hip Hop culture is finally being built a special home where it originated in the Bronx.
With a unique board of trustees and original hip hop master, Kurtis Blow leading the way, the Universal Hip Hop Museum will open in summer 2018. This is the first museum planned to celebrate hip hop’s history, its roots and the youth.
UHHM has scouted the Old Bronx County Courthouse as the museum’s site. The New York City landmark closed in 1977, but it will be revived upon the museum’s establishment. The museum is anticipated to house 3D holograms of historical rappers, hands-on DJ exhibits for kids, and a mobile exhibition truck.
Until the museum’s opening, UHHM has planned benefit concerts, open forum discussions, and fundraisers to aid the project and the community.
