R&B/Hip Hop icon, Missy Elliot has reigned supreme over 20 years in the music industry.
Coming back from the dance hit Where They From(WTF) that debuted in 2015 which featured music producer Pharrell, Missy Elliot has proven that she is still a connoisseur of music with her video for hit single, “I’m better”.
Fans shouldn’t expect any of Missy Elliot’s videos to be anything other than crazy sexy cool. This video does not sway from her normal difference.
The video opens with Elliot accompanied by a sexy Task Force. The scene quickly switches to a scene with illuminated visuals where her background dancers are protruding from curtains while dancing.
The triple threat gives life in the second scene. She is seen wearing a leather jacket aligned with feathered decor on the shoulders. She sports an Ebony black asymmetric cut while singing the lyrics,”He watches my body like he watches Scandal”. In this line, Elliot talks about a guy admiring her figure as if he was thoroughly watching an episode of the hit television show Scandal.
The hook, which features rapper/producer, Lamb, reiterates his ongoing success while also implying that he could show naysayers how to be as successful as himself. Missy Elliot on the other hand, uses sultry, yet braggadocios sexual innuendos to say that she is better than any other female in the bedroom or in Hip Hop. In another verse, Missy pays homage to Atlanta rapper, Andre 3000 while slighting her competition, or the lack thereof with lyrics saying, “Bruce Lee on the beat, I don’t compete with these geeks, I just rant like I’m Kanye. ”
The majority of the video’s setting includes some futuristic visuals of underwater scenes. While Missy dances, their are sporadic moments of underwater acrobats diving into a pool. This added to the overall visual effect of the video. Missy Elliot and featuring artist Lamb, Diddy bopped right before a splash of water made them disappear. The video was more like a three-dimensional movie that made you want to do your own Diddy bop. The “I’m Better” music video is a must-see.
