Having had the pleasure of seeing Christian Ahmed perform at the Real Friends: The Third Installation of the Art Exhibit & Day Party, it is easy to see that his messages are eloquently put and thought provoking. And combined with a passionate, mesmerizing performance, Ahmed deviates from other local artists trying to break out into the scene with a fresh perspective on life. Even his business cards read introspective phrases such as: “I Am Free,” “I Am Confident,” and “I Am Patient.” Though Ahmed uses his YouTube channel as an effective form of expression to convey his motivational, positive thoughts to the public, his authentic, message-based music seems to be the principal manner in which, as he calls it, “his visions of a unified culture,” seem to shine through.
Originally from South Carolina but now relocated to Atlanta, Ahmed labels himself as a recording artist and motivational speaker. Through his fluid, head-bobbing music, he says he aims to show, “diversity in his art by expressing challenges in life not as destructive, but instrumental to growth.”
With the release of, “Best Time,” Ahmed explains, “I’ve spent many days, wishing for better days. I never knew that the best time of my life could be everyday. My past has taught me to value my present. Now that I’ve learned to receive that gift, I am no longer a prisoner of my past but instead a passenger of the moment.” The song itself, effortlessly blending soul and hip-hop, creates addictive melodies that seep into your brain.
Its composition of both melodic rap and harmony laced singing establishes a hopeful, optimistic tone that is sung with just enough emotion to transport you to a happier place. He sings, “Now I’ve found a vision and I feel it/And I see the strength I’ve been missing/My life is a good vibe/I never deny the voice I’ve been given,” and this upbeat message carries throughout the song. Interlacing a compelling, blissful matrimony of brass with Ahmed’s dynamic voice gives the song a rhythmic sense. By the end of the three minutes, Ahmed successfully makes you want to click repeat and start the song over.
“Best Time,” undoubtedly sets the stage for Ahmed’s increasing popularity and fan base, quickly growing out of the local scene and into a much bigger, much deserved spotlight. Be sure to check him out on SoundCloud, YouTube, and Instagram.
