Fresh from her larger than life performance with Nicki Minaj at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards, Ariana Grande immediately released the grown and sexy video for the island pop sensation, “Side To Side.” The duet comes from Grande’s latest album, Dangerous Woman. “Side To Side” is also the latest single from the album. Along with the premiere of the video, Grande’s performance was the first time the song had ever been performed by both Nicki and herself.
The video begins with a mature Ariana with a group of bodacious women in a spinning class. Ariana sensually sings, “I’m talkin’ to ya / See you standing over there with your body /Feeling like I wanna rock with your body / And we don’t gotta think ’bout nothin’ (’bout nothin’). I’m comin’ at ya / Cause I know you got a bad reputation / Doesn’t matter, cause you give me temptation / And we don’t gotta think ’bout nothin’ (’bout nothin’)”
As the video progresses we see more of the bubbly, fun-filled choreography that we’re used to seeing in Ariana’s videos. The scene then switches from the high energy spinning class and shows a sexy Ariana walking into what looks like a gym area with all black on. As she dances and struts her stuff, the scene subtly switches yet again to a locker room filled with beautiful women with Ariana as the center attention.
Dressed in pink boxer shorts, a gray tank and some pink and black boxing gloves, the pop star dances and walks down the line of women before more bubbly choreography begins. Side to Side showcases a more mature, grown up of side of Grande is seen in this video. She looks completely amazing throughout the entire video. Her sex appeal is definitely more noticeable in this video as she confidently sings and flaunts her stuff alongside Nicki.
The video does not end here. As we keep watching Ari body the video, the scene finally switches and we enter into a sauna surrounded with men in speedo swimwear. In the center, Nicki appears in an all red two-piece swimsuit as she raps, “This the new style with the fresh type of flow / Wrist icicle, ride d**k, bicycle / Come through, get you this type of blow / If you wanna Minaj, I got a tricycle.”
Nothing screams sexy more than Minaj in this video. Her demeanor, character, and attitude emits this provocative, invigorating appeal that makes the video very entertaining and appealing to watch. She effortlessly kills in both her looks and rap skill as she charismatically raps her verse. The video ends with Ari and Nicki joking around, having a good time in the sauna while a troop of beautiful women dance around in what appears to be a shower room.
The video is hot! It’s filled with beautiful women and it gives off this completely sensual feel. The video was very enjoyable and entertaining! It’s vibrant, colorful, fun, and innovative. It’s set up in a way that it keeps your attention from beginning to end. Ariana held nothing back as she let the world know she is not that same young girl from Nickelodeon that we all fell in love with (and still love now), but that she is now a grown-up, mature, young woman. It’s great to see her evolving and becoming even more comfortable with herself. Nicki never does any wrong whenever she features on anyone’s track. Her presence and skill helped propel both the song and video. The video is overall satisfying and makes you want to dance along with the two of them.
This is not the first time Nicki and Ari have worked together. Nicki worked with Ariana with the similar, sensual, “Get On Your Knees” track from Minaj’s The Pinkprint album. Nicki also featured on Grande’s My Everything album in the utterly contagious “Bang Bang” track, which also featured Jessie J. Nicki and Ariana make magic whenever the two team up. Just as they have done in the past, they created yet another amazing video and song.
