The city of Delray Beach has scattered 15 art installations across different neighborhoods, inviting tourists to embark on an art journey.
These installations, dubbed the Delray Chairs, were created with the intention of interconnecting forgotten parts of the city and directing the public eye towards them.
The seven-foot wooden chairs are unique and intricate in their designs, yet have the word “ART” carved on each one. The carving makes the Chairs part of a unit, bringing together the Delray community through art. Each chair depicts a particular site where the installation is placed.
One of the pieces is displayed in Downtown Delray, and the rest are located in rarely visited areas of the city. Each chair will have a code that can be scanned and will lead visitors to the location of the next installation on the map. Here, they can also read about the artist, and what inspired the design in which it is displayed.
